JetBuzz Lake Macquarie – Our Story
JetBuzz Lake Macquarie began its journey in 2006, launching thrilling jet boat adventures across the lake. Our very first vessel was the bright yellow “Cheeky Bee” – a 13-passenger, 380hp turbo-charged jet boat that delivered unforgettable rides from our original home at Pelican Marina. Operated by Capt. Simon, Cheeky Bee ran from 2006 to 2012 and helped establish JetBuzz as an exciting and trusted local experience. During these early years, we also expanded into boat hire, kayaking and stand-up paddleboard hire, laying the foundation for a more sustainable, all-round watersports business.
In early 2012, JetBuzz relocated to Raffertys Resort, Cams Wharf, where the focus turned to growing the operation into something truly special for the region. We added more kayaks, SUPs and rental boats, and in 2013 we proudly upgraded our jet boat with the arrival of “Wild Thing” – a twin-engine, 760hp turbo-charged Cummins diesel powerhouse capable of carrying 21 passengers. Wild Thing allowed us to expand beyond the lake and out into the ocean, delivering high-energy rides right through until early 2025.
After nearly two decades of thrills, Capt. Simon and Wild Thing stepped back from jet boating operations in 2025, marking the end of an incredible chapter.
Today, Lake Mac Watersports continues the legacy from Raffertys Resort, offering a wide range of boat rentals, kayak and SUP hire also, while exploring exciting new ideas for the future – including the possibility of introducing another adventure vessel.

OUR POLICIES
Bookings
We recommend that you make a booking in advance as we get quite busy and often we are fully booked. We are not always open so this is another important reason to book in advance. You can easily book online here! You can still call on the day to book a boat and we may still have some available. If we have an advance booking we will open any day.
If you call and we don’t answer straight away, we are most likely busy with another customer. Leave a message and we will call you back asap. You can also send us an email enquiry.
Weather
Don’t worry about the weather! If you make a booking and the weather is awful on the day, we can reschedule, offer credit, or refund your booking. Make sure you check multiple weather sources or give us a call to get our industry experience and advice on the upcoming weather.
Fishing
We have rod hire and bait available. We also sell tackle and have a nice range of quality affordable fishing rod and reel combos. In case you forget, we have sunscreen, hats, etc. Each boat has a set of four fishing licences to the boat’s name, or you can buy your own personal licence online to fish anytime!
